I found that, if I want to make the museum experience mine, I could sketch details of objects on display in museums or sketch parts of historic buildings and recombine them to create a new image as evocative as the many parts. I did this for a 2001 exhibition at the Johns Hopkins University’s Evergreen and Homewood mansions. Paintings from this show are labeled JHU. I then did 24 paintings derived from the Walters Art Museum’s holding in 2002-3. Paintings from this group are marked Walters.
