Eulogy is a small group of watercolors painted in 2006 soon after the death of my father. Prominent in these paintings are the wooden toys he began making for his first grandchildren. Centered in the first painting–Missing–is the cutout of a stacking soldier. Across the top are the three positions of the gurney upon which I last saw him. This series interrupted the earliest hands paintings where hands are used for their ability to convey language.
