The Up in Arms series of watercolors began in the summer of 2013. The idea was to ask people to celebrate an object–whether as dear as an infant or as emotional detached as a garbage can–by holding it aloft. I only painted the person’s arms because I wanted to make each event more universal.
Paintings labeled KW were made during or soon after a month’s residency at The Studios of Key West (FL) in 2013.
The TARGET series explores the violent use of firearms. Each painting was completed by having it shot at at a shooting range.
